What is stainless steel precision strip?
Stainless steel precision strip refers to specialized stainless steel coil that features exceptionally thin thickness typically ranging from 0.02mm to 0.50mm and narrow width that is commonly seen below 610mm. 1200mm width is also possible but very rare for extra high cost.
Stainless Steel Precision Strip Features
Stainless steel precision strip is distinct from common stainless steel coils in terms of grades, tolerance and applications.
Different Grades. Unlike common stainless steel coils where SS304 makes up the lion’s share, higher-alloyed grades such as 316L, 310S and duplex 2205 are equally familiar for stainless steel precision strips, if not more.
Tighter Tolerance Control. Although both confirming to specification ASTM A480, precision stainless steel strips due to the thin gauge, are of pretty tight tolerance. For example, ±10% tolerance for 0.05mm thickness means ±0.005mm! While for common stainless steel coils, they have relatively loose tolerances varying with thickness.
Applications. Common stainless steel coils are used in mid-markets ranging from civil projects, architecture to industrial applications, while stainless steel precision strips are produced for high-end markets such as precision electronic products, medical instruments, new energy and aerospace industry.
