Overview
Type 310S is an austenitic chrome-nickel stainless steel, which features good oxidation resistance, corrosion resistance and acid and alkali resistance. Besides, it embodies excellent high temperature resistance. With high content of chromium and nickel elements, i.e., 25Cr-20Ni, 310S embodies much better creep strength which allows it to work continuously at high temperature (1150 °C). The high temperature resistant steel tube is specially used for manufacturing electric heating tubes and the like.
Features of Inox 310S
Since 310/310S presents austenitic structure under room temperature, therefore it cannot be hardened through heat treatment. Cold working can give it enhanced tensile strength and yield strength. Cold working must be followed by annealing, or the steel properties will be unstable. However, alloy 310/310S is made for high temperature work, if done with cold working, its creep resistance will decrease on the contrary under high temperature.
310S Applications
310S stainless steel is widely used in the heat treatment/processing industry due to its high temperature resistance and oxidation resistance. The main applications are:
- 1) Conveyor belt, drum, burner, refractory pad, pipe hanger, etc.;
- 2) Chemical processing industry;
- 3) Food processing industry;
- 4) Stamping dies, fixtures, tools, gauges, paper cutters, auxiliary tools, etc;
- 5) Petroleum, electronics, pharmaceutical, textile, machinery, construction, nuclear power, aerospace, military and other industries;
- 6) Others.
