In the 1930s, stainless steel wire ropes were designed and developed, and are mainly used in mine excavation and lifting equipment. With the in-depth development of the first industrial revolution, stainless steel wire ropes has been popularized and used more widely.

An application of stainless steel wire rope

Stainless steel wire rope has many features such as high temperature resistance, good anti-fatigue performance, excellent breaking force, long service life and durability. It is widely used in coal, petroleum, metallurgy, chemical industry, ships, bridges, electric power, rubber, military industry, tourism, water conservancy, light industry and other industries, products can be produced according to ISO, BS, DIN, JIS, ABS, LR and other international and foreign advanced level standards.

1. In the equipment reform of chemical, chemical fertilizer, chemical fiber and other industries, stainless steel wire rope is necessary to assist with the new equipment deployment.

2. The widely used stainless steel electrode and a large number of stainless steel components, springs, adjoining parts, etc. all used stainless steel wire rope.

3. Rings and hangers on electrified locomotives and power lines are also the examples of stainless steel wire rope applications.

4. Nylon nets used in all walks of life are now replaced by stainless steel wire ropes.

5. Besides, stainless steel wire ropes are also widely used in railway electrification, decoration industry, rigging industry, fishing gear industry, automobile and motorcycle industry and other industries.

Stainless steel wire ropes are mainly divided into round wire rope, braided wire rope and flat wire rope from the structure. Different requirements decides the distinct usages of stainless steel wire ropes, which are also the basis for our classification. According to application, stainless steel wire rope can be divided into the following types:

1. Motion wire rope. Motion ropes bend on pulleys and drums, so the forces resulted emanates mainly from bending stress and then the tensile stress.

2. Static steel wire rope. Static ropes are subjected to tensile forces, so they are mainly subject to static and motioning tensile stresses.

3. Cableway rope. Cableway ropes play the role of guide rails for carriages or other load guide wheels in aerial ropeways and cableway cranes. In contrast to motion ropes, cableway ropes do not bend in accordance with the curvature of the guide pulley. When subjected to the force of the guide pulley, the rope will produce a free bending radius. This radius increases with the increase of the wire rope tension and decreases with the increase of the guide wheel force.

4. Hanging basket wire rope. Basket ropes are used to carry a variety of items, which are subjected to tension, but are first subjected to bending stress when the basket rope bends at a sharp edge, either large or small.
